If Jesus came embodied, then there must be something good and holy about this encasement of skin and fat around the brittle bones and tight muscles that hold me together...
I had been writing this one for a while (hence its length) because I know it's so important for us to discuss, but I'm so deeply in the midst of learning and uncovering where God is showing up in this journey!
This is excellent (though I’m sorry for any part I played in your upbringing on dress). I’m so glad the Chiropractor is giving you relief and good Health Care for your body! I love that this is a journey for you. It’s truly how we learn and adjust. Especially when seen through the eyes of God.
Adjustment can mean so much for us, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually! (And I think it’s more so a result of the general christian culture and church than anything you explicitly said or did.) 😊♥️
Thank you for your topic and your insight. I'm a good deal older but I relate to much of what you have experienced. Our bodies are still, ever still, wonderfully made. He has put in them the ability to regenerate and know health. I'm thinking the conflict of not appreciating our bodies in Christian culture comes from scripture. Could it stem from a misunderstanding of what "the flesh" is in the New Testament? Numerous root words for "flesh". I think I understand "flesh" to be desires that lead us away from his spirit, as in carnal flesh. Not that we aren't to take responsibility for or appreciate our bodies. Then the perfect verse that ties it altogether...present your bodies as a living sacrifice. Romans 12:1 with how-to's in verse 2! I need to get real and do what needs to be done for the upkeep of this tabernacle. Laughing with friends, I wondered out loud if I really needed an angelic visitation to motivate me to exercise daily!
I think that’s a valid assumption of why we assume our bodies are the problem! Thanks for sharing your insights. Maybe that will be one of the “word for the week” words I have to do some digging on and share in my weekly updates.
I do sometimes need some miraculous motivation to take care of this body, too! 😅
This was so insightful and helpful, Stephanie - thank you for sharing!
